The park was established in 1968, and is home to old-growth coast redwoods. These magnificent trees can live to be 2,000 years old and grow to over 300 feet tall. Spruce, hemlock, Douglas-fir.

Named after the explorer Jedediah Smith, who was the first white man to explore the interior of northern California. He was part of a remarkable two-year trapping expedition which began in 1826.

Was one of the first land acquisitions of the state park system. The Pacific Ocean forms its west boundary, through old growth redwood forests and into Mill Creek Basin and the west fork of Mill Creek.

4,000 acres of dune, forest, and a freshwater pond complex unique to the state of California. Surrounding the West Coast's largest estuarine lagoon, Lake Earl Coastal, located along the Pacific Flyway.

Right in Crescent City between the mainland and the rocky island. The lighthouse was constructed in 1856.
